PAST EDUCATION PROGRAMS

OCTOBER 2024

Teen Tech Halloween Props participants will design and build a series of Halloween themed props including: Shakespearean daggers and fake blood, light-up lanterns, scenic pieces found in a murky outdoor setting, and edible props that are safe to consume, but to an audience look frightening - all through tricks of the trade.

SEPTEMBER 2024

Physical Comedy: Stage & Screen is a course in which participants will be immersed in physical comedy techniques including: clowning, comedic choreography, mime, slapstick, physical theatre for storytelling, farce, and on-camera comedy performance. .

SEPTEMBER 2024

Teen Tech: Costume Craft is a hands-on 4-session program focused on the creation of a costume accessory from inception to completion. We will be using craft techniques utilized in the professional world of stage, film, and television. 

Youth Arts Summer Camp focus on discovery, exploration, and learning, which is a constant in the vibrant art of live performance and theatre. Campers separated by age group will meet as a company at various times throughout the camp day, but will be working with separate teaching staff and counselors based on their age. We will learn, practice, and refine skills that are at the core of being a well rounded performing artist, such as range of voice, command of body language and physicality, stage presence, and the power of communicating with confidence. 

JUNE 2024

Musical Theatre Summer Camp will consist of shaping a musical theatre piece with diversity in song selection for a full exploration of the American artform of Musical Theatre. Camp days will be concentrated on scene work, vocalization, choreography and on-stage performance for a culmination presentation with live musicians, and elements of costume, props and scenic developed by participants in the TEEN TECH Summer Camp.

JUNE 2024

Teen Tech Summer Camp is a 2-week behind-the-scenes immersion. Discovery, exploration, and learning is a constant in the exciting world of technical theatre and the design departments creating the environment surrounding the story. The industry evolves in technology, and also functions via some of the time-honored, hand-crafted skills of artists and designers. TEEN TECH participants will learn from professionals in scenic design, lighting design, sound design, costume design, and stage management.

FEBRUARY 2024

Broadway Bound focuses on young people being immersed in the world of creating live performance and musical theatre, and to have fun during the process. Students will learn from working industry professionals in a supportive and healthy environment - all in the venue built by the legendary Garry Marshall, who believed that there is great value in young people collaborating together through theatre. This program culminates with a special presentation on the GMT stage showcasing the BROADWAY BOUND participants sharing what they learned and created during their 6 weeks together.

FEBRUARY 2024

Broadway Dance will be taught by professional dance instructors from the LA and NY choreography and dance community. Both cohorts will practice multiple choreographed routines in the rehearsal space and on the stage. Ages 10-12 will practice basic dance vocabulary and methods and ages 13-17 will focus on more advanced dance techniques within choreography. This program culminates with a special presentation on the GMT stage showcasing the BROADWAY DANCE participants sharing what they learned and created during their 6 weeks together.
