TUESDAYS ARE FOR DANCE!

  • Tuesdays, 7:30pm-8:30pm, Adults: 18+

Drop-In Dance is an all-level series in the GMT Rehearsal Studio. Practice technique, expand and refine your dance vocabulary in an all-level dance community taught by industry professionals. Each unique class is created by one of our guest choreographers. Classes will be based in jazz, musical theatre choreography, and hip-hop. GMT’s Drop-In Dance is a great way to stay sharp and your moves on point. Proper footwear is required. 

To create a supportive learning environment, this class will not be recorded.

DECEMBER CHOREOGRAPHERS

DEC 3 - Joe Aaron Reid

is internationally acclaimed for originating the role of Curtis Taylor Jr. in the West End smash hit musical Dreamgirls. His other West End credits include originating both Benny in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Tony and Olivier Award-winning, In The Heights, and Stephen in the European premiere of Mark Gerrard’s play, Steve. His Broadway credits include the original casts of If/Then, Ghost: The Musical, Catch Me If You Can, Finian’s Rainbow, and Curtains, as well as Chicago. Off-Broadway, Joe has been fortunate to work with City Center Encores! and Roundabout Theatre Company. In addition to New York and London, Joe has performed at the Macau International Music Festival (MIMF) in Macau, China, and has also worked extensively with some of the most renowned regional theatres including Paper Mill Playhouse, Williamstown Theatre Festival, North Shore Music Theatre, 5th Avenue Theatre, and recently concluded a run of Jelly’s Last Jam at the Pasadena Playhouse. TV/film: The Holiday Exchange, ‘Pretty Little Liars: Summer School’, ‘Smash’, ‘The Homemade Sketch Show’, It Could Be Worse, and Robozuna. As an educator, director, and choreographer, Joe has had the privilege of working with students all over the US, individually and through pre-college and pre-professional programs like Show Choir Nationals, Musical Theatre Mayhem, White Heron Theatre Company Summer Intensive, and the Theatre Gap Initiative. He has also collaborated with numerous dance studios, most recently with Musical Theatre West in Long Beach, CA. He holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from Ithaca College and is repped by 44 West Entertainment.


NOVEMBER CHOREOGRAPHERS

NOV 19 - Thalia Ramos

Based in LA, Thalia is focused on creating her own lane in the dance community. Her work to bring conscious learning into the dance educational system is best represented in her youth crew CUBCAKES. Their credits are best known for their TV appearances especially on NBC World of Dance season 2 and the Latin AMAs 2019. Since paving her own professional career her work can be characterized as a blend of powerful versatility and artistic range. She has made space and taken on work that allows her to support others, teach mindfulness, spark conversation, create collaboratively, and pursue endless explorations in movement. She is endlessly grateful to continually witness how this work transforms dancers, audiences, community, and herself.

Cindera Che

Cindera Che is an Asian American actor and dancer with a career spanning over thirty years in film and television. In addition to her on-camera work, Cindera has been an influential teacher, choreographer, and performance coach for over 35 years. She was on staff at The Edge Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles, developing professional dancers. She also created the Movement For Actors training program, where her skills in turning non-dancers into expressive movers led to her appearance on Dancing with the Stars, coaching Kristy Yamaguchi in her winning performance. One of her favorite choreography projects was creating a finale for a cast of 750 inmates from the renowned dancing inmates of Cebu, the Philippines, for the film Dance of the Steelbars. This experience allowed her to explore the idea that movement transcends all human barriers, a belief she strives to bring to all of her work. Cindera has an ongoing dance class at the Hollywood Dance Center. She lives in LA with her husband, daughter and dog, Butter!

Kayla Janssen

Belgian-native Kayla Janssen’s dance journey has spanned Tokyo, Hong Kong, and London, shaping her distinctive style. With 20+ years of industry experience, she’s choreographed for stars like Dua Lipa and Rita Ora, and teaches at the renowned Millennium Dance Complex in LA. From her start at London’s Pineapple Dance Studios in London to mastering Broadway and commercial dance in NYC, Kayla has captivated audiences worldwide. A 2012 Global Adidas Dancers Wanted Challenge winner, her choreography turns music into visual magic and inspires students across the globe.

Cedric Dodd

Cedric Dodd received his BFA in Dance Theatre from AMDA, LA. He has worked on TV Shows such as ‘Physical’, ‘Mysterious Benedict Society’ and ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ as well as for products such as Neiman Marcus, Apple and Crocs. Cedric was the Associate Director/Choreographer for Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer the National Tour and Associate Choreographer on productions such as Evita (The Rev) and Damn Yankees (Musical Theatre West). He also worked as Assistant Choreographer for Mariah Carey’s Saadiyat Nights concert in Abu Dhabi. He is a faculty member at Millennium Dance Complex, AMDA, LA and a Guest Faculty member at Broadway Dance Center (NY). This year, Cedric made his Broadway debut as the Associate Choreographer for The Great Gatsby

Christine Lakin

is a choreographer/director. She got her start choreographing by skeleton crewing for Emmy-nominated Mary Ann Kellogg in Showtime’s Reefer Madness. She choreographed all ten seasons of ABC’s ‘The Goldbergs’ and the forthcoming film The Merry Gentlemen for Netflix. Drop-In Dance Policies

Class Purchases

  • Individual classes or class packages must be purchased in advance. Classes and class packages are non-refundable or transferable.

  • Individual classes and class packages are valid through March 2025.

  • You will be emailed an Enrollment and Liability Form. We require that you fill this out prior to your first class.

Scheduling

  • Please book the class(es) of your choice using our online booking portal in advance, due to limited space.

  • Participants may reserve a spot in a class online up until the start time.

  • Walk-ins are welcome for onsite purchase with a GMT staff member starting 30 minutes before the class starts, if space is available. Please arrive 15 minutes early to process the purchase and paperwork.

Cancellation

  • Participants can reschedule a class on the online booking portal up to 24 hours before the class start time. 

  • If a participant doesn't show up for a class, that class is not able to be rescheduled and has expired.

  • Participants that are feeling unwell or are experiencing symptoms of a contagious illness should not attend and reschedule class for another date.

  • If any class is cancelled by the theatre or instructor, participants will be notified in advance and will be able to reschedule that class.

 Class Guidelines

  • We recommend arriving early to stretch and prepare. The Rehearsal Studio space is located on the second floor and is available 30 minutes before the class starts. Elevator access is available from the lobby.

  • Arrive on time to avoid disruptions for the group.

  • Late arrivals over 10 minutes may not be admitted and will follow the no-show class policy.

  • Please dress appropriately for dance, including dance footwear. Each class is different and will have a description in the online booking portal. The majority of classes are based in jazz, musical theatre choreography, and all levels of hip hop.

  • Any injuries sustained during class should be reported to the instructor or staff member. 

  • All participants should treat instructors, staff, and fellow dancers with respect. 

Parking

  • There is limited parking in our side lot, east of the building. 

  • Please do not park in the spaces with reserved signage designated for Feybl.

  • Street parking on Riverside Drive is available starting at 6pm.

  • Please do not park on neighborhood streets with permitted parking signage.
